BLOODHOUND SSC – a supersonic racing car designed to reach speeds of 1,000mph (1,600km/h).

“BLOODHOUND is operational”. Our month at Newquay, culminating in BLOODHOUND SSC’s first public runs at the end of October, has set us firmly on the road to South Africa. We’d like to thank all of our supporters, volunteers and sponsors for helping to make this happen – we couldn’t have done it without you.

And there’s more to come. Read on for the latest news, plus a message from Richard Noble and driver Andy Green’s summary of his time at Newquay.

There are opportunities for you to come to see BLOODHOUND at our Technical Centre in December – we’ve got Open Days for all the family and special Christmas Rocket Car events to entertain the kids in the school holidays.

As Andy says in his diary: “If this year was exciting, then next year is going to be amazing!”

Check out our website at www.bloodhoundssc.com for more information, videos and images.

BLOODHOUND SSC

Message from Richard Noble

“The BLOODHOUND Project owes a huge debt of thanks for the extraordinary levels of help from the Cornwall Development Company and our friends at Cornwall Airport Newquay. ‘BLOODHOUND is Go’ has been a huge joint achievement, with massive media coverage, and our visitors will remember the happy days for years to come.”

“Our next stage in the Project is to run BLOODHOUND SSC seriously fast and we need to achieve this in 2018, which requires a formidable team effort in planning, financing and execution. But the omens are good – the prospects have now realised that BLOODHOUND can deliver on the massive scale of Newquay, and that the public all over the world are responding.”

“As I write this, I am with the Oracle team in San Francisco and all those deals that we hoped would materialise in 2017 are beginning to look bright again.”

“Make no mistake, 2018 is going to be a formidable year for all of us and that will get us ready for the first World Record.”

“Happy Christmas to you from all of us, and thank you for your help and support in 2017. Get ready for 2018!”

You can find out what happened each day in the News section of our website and also experience the event in videos that captured the runs from inside and outside the cockpit:

Andy Green’s view from inside the cockpit

BLOODHOUND driver Andy Green had a unique view of the events at Cornwall Airport Newquay from inside the cockpit of the Car. In his latest diary entry, he describes the weeks of preparation and then gives a driver’s eye view of the public events. This is a must-read for any BLOODHOUND fans – and anyone who wants to know what it feels like to drive a car with a jet engine in the back!

Then see Andy’s view from inside the cockpit – and the view from the top of the tail – as the Car runs in the BBC 360° video (VR headset optional but recommended!).

Support BLOODHOUND

The BLOODHOUND Project is funded by sponsorship and donations from individual members of the public, small and medium-sized businesses, and global corporations. Every last bit of money raised goes towards helping us create something special, with a lasting legacy of inspiration for our future generation of scientists and engineers.

One key way to support us is to buy BLOODHOUND merchandise from our online shop. We have a new 2017 Corgi model of the Car, BLOODHOUND-branded clothing including Newquay t-shirts, (or save £5 by buying a Newquay T shirt and a model together!) Newquay souvenir programmes with brand new articles about the Project, and many other new items that would make great Christmas presents.
