The Bloodhound Project Andy Green's incident at Goodwood Festival of Speed

Andy Green's incident at Goodwood Festival of Speed

Saturday, 27 June, 2015

Andy Green had a minor incident this morning when driving the new Jaguar XJR Rapid Response vehicle at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

"The XJR is a fabulous car but I misjudged its power and went into the infamous Molecome corner too fast.  Its caught many people out in the past and I can see why.

As soon as I realised we weren't going to make it I tried to scrub off as much speed as possible and looked for somewhere soft to land.  The car looked after us brilliantly but will need a pretty comprehensive polish before we go out to South Africa next year.

Luckily for The BLOODHOUND Project, there aren't many corners in Land Speed Racing."

No one was injured in the incident and the track was soon re-opened.

Andy is looking forward having another go up the hill later in the day...once Jaguar's Special Vehicle Operations engineers have added the words 'Go' and 'Stop' to the car's pedals (see picture above).
