The BLOODHOUND Project is proud to announce the signing of Rolex as its Official Timing Partner.

The legendary Swiss watchmaker is to become a substantial sponsor of the British-based project, an international education initiative focused on a 1,000mph Land Speed Record attempt.

The new partnership attests to the unique nature of the project, the track record of the team leaders Richard Noble OBE and Wing Commander Andy Green OBE (the current world record holder) and the global appeal of the event, renowned for challenging the limits of human and technical endeavour.

BLOODHOUND Project Director Richard Noble said, “I am delighted to welcome Rolex to the team. It is hugely important that a brand of its pedigree become a partner in this project, especially considering Rolex's history of supporting record-breaking endeavors now and in the past. This is the first major brand partnership to compliment our existing technical partnerships and I’m pleased to say the technical, educational and commercial programmes are all on schedule for 2013.”

Driver, Andy Green, said, “I’m enormously proud that I’ll be wearing a Rolex on my wrist when we go for the record. It will take 3.6 seconds to cover the Measured Mile, and then the team will race like hell to get the car turned around for a return run within the hour with the world watching. It will be a split second business and terrifically exciting but the real prize is the creation of a lasting legacy that inspires young people to take up careers in science and engineering. It’s going to be a very special moment in time and I’m delighted to welcome Rolex, the leader in time, to the team.”
