We had a production planning meeting last week, now that the BloodhoundSSC build is well established and we all have much better visibility of the time scales.
Building the car is a mammoth task with over 3,000 specially designed and about to be made components. There is a huge volume of activity all over the country and the Bloodhound engineering team are absolutely determined to have the car on its wheels with the EJ200 engine running this October and we all came to the conclusion that this is achievable. But by the end of the year crucial components like the tailfin will still be in manufacture and its quite clear that we won’t be in South Africa for December as we had hoped.
Knowing that many people are planning their holidays around all this we felt it important to get the message out immediately.
So when are we going to be there? We felt strongly that we should avoid deadline creep; we should set an achievable date and deliver.
So it's quarter 2 (April/May/June) 2014 . But there’s one more important point: this is turning into a truly tremendous team and we are going to try and beat that if we can !
See you on the Pan in Quarter 2 –if not before !!
