World-leader in precision carbide cutting tool technology signs product supplier partnership with the BLOODHOUND Project

SGS Tool, the international precision cutting tool manufacturer, has announced its official technical partnership with the bid to become the first to travel on land at 1,000mph - the BLOODHOUND Project.

The significant US solid carbide tool specialist, whose UK subsidiary - SGS Carbide Tool - is based in Wokingham, Berkshire, becomes an official supplier of products and technical resources, following the negotiation and signing of an agreement with the Bloodhound team for the duration of the project.

SGS will provide its significant R&D and technical resource to the team, both from the USA head office and in the UK, and manufacture and supply both listed and bespoke solid carbide tooling for the production and finishing of unique assemblies and components - predominantly exotic metals and carbon composites - used in the BLOODHOUND SSC (Super-sonic Car).

With its experience and market focus in aerospace, automotive and motor sports - with F1 teams amongst its clients - SGS’s profile, expertise and resources are ideally suited to the extreme technology requirements of BLOODHOUND SSC.

SGS Carbide Tool UK Managing Director, Alan Pearce, commented:
“We are tremendously proud and pleased that SGS is involved as a partner and supplier of tooling to this fantastic project. “It is awe-inspiringly complex and will genuinely stretch the boundaries of technical achievement.

“Our deep experience in tooling for aerospace and the motorsport industries - particularly in the processing of carbon composites and exotic metals - and our ability to rapidly research, develop and supply one-off tooling on demand, has tremendous resonance with the Bloodhound team’s needs,” he continued.

“The BLOODHOUND Project creates the ultimate environment in which to share R&D and knowledge at the very pinnacle of technology. I have no doubt it will significantly benefit the future development of our products and, as a consequence, those of our existing and future customers and beyond,” he concluded.
