This Tuesday, over 50 pupils from Broughton Manor Preparatory School and Milton Keynes Preparatory School came to Northampton High School to take part in a Design & Technoloy and Science enrichment day.

The Years 5 and 6 spent some time in each department learning about various aspects of the subjects and were also given the opportunity to make some products to take home with them including a desk tidy, jacket potato mouse and a cushion.
One of the most popular aspects of the day was the Bloodhound SSC (Supersonic Car) workshop.

Return to Matravers School, Westbury, Wiltshire

Thursday, 9 February, 2012 - 13:34

BLOODHOUND Ambassador Chris Henley makes a second visit to Matravers School in Wiltshire.

This was a return journey to Matravers School in Westbury, Wiltshire for another STEM evening.  My visit in October 2011 must have been a success as I had been invited back!  This time I had written a short Powerpoint presentation which I had intended to display on my stand.  However, Miss Venter, who had invited me, suggested that I played it on the large screen over the stage in the main hall and there it ran continuously for the entire evening.

Derby College marked National Apprenticeship Week by featuring the Show Car on the turntable of the historic Roundhouse, a recently renovated locomotive shed that is the stunning centre piece of college life. Over two days, with the help of sponsor, Protocol National, local primary and secondary school children were wowed by the car, the presentations, the Intel Atom animation played on a large screen at full volume firing their imaginations and of course the balloon car challenge to win a Bloodhound baseball cap and a bag of Protocol National’s goodies.

balloon cars at Alkborough Primary School

Tuesday, 1 June, 2010 - 11:48

Students from Alkborough Primary School, Scunthorpe recently took part in a BLOODHOUND SSC awareness day.  Stuart Bontoft, formally of Corus, introduced pupils of Key Stage 2 to the technical and performance aspects of the car and led a session where the pupils made and raced “Balloon Cars”.  The pupils were impressed that there was so much maths and science involved in the build and racing the balloon powered cars and that by making alterations to the design and size and number of balloons really effected the performance, a true Engineering Adventure!
